OddBot live forward test
This forward test has been discontinued on 30.10.2012 due to the vendor cheating all the affiliates. In retrospect, I should have stopped it as soon as I found out it was using stolen code – once a thief, always a thief. Oh well, you know what they say: hindsight is always 20/20.

Hi,
seems like Oddbot has run out of steam: two weeks of losing money, that means “bye bye Oddbot” for me.Are you experiences similar?
If it’s true that 90% of the source code is stolen, this probably points to a developer who doesn’t know as much about the stolen code than the original developer and had a hard time optimizing it.
(Don’t get me wrong: Re-using someone else’s code is a well-established routine in software development, but in trading you need to fully understand what you’re re-using

Ah – it’s 1.81 that it’s set to true by default (just checked mine).
Yes the GMT offset is fine but I think the issue might be with the FFCAL indi that is uses. Oddbot uses a pretty old one and I have another EA (the SmartFX EA’s) running on the same account that uses a newer one – so I didn’t overwrite it. This is the only thing I can see that could cause it to fail. I could run it on a separate MT4 instance but I don’t want to overload the VPS so I think I will just carry on without the news filter.

Ok – thanks Birt – I will do that then. Happier with EA’s running on their own instance anyway. I have plenty of RAM but I had historical issues with it when I had a 2008 server (now switched back to 2003). 2008 has some issues with RAM allocation and freeing of RAM that seem to be intermittent (and CNS were not able to resolve).

Now installed on it’s own instance and it seems I was right – using the Morpheus supplied FFCAL the news seems to be displayed correctly.
How many bars do you use as a default Birt – I have mine set to 20000 – just because I read that somewhere – but even that seems extreme for EA’s that aren’t really looking at historical data?

OddBot updated to version 1.81 to accomodate mt4 build 416/418.
Also newsfilter is enabled as standard with close profitable trades prior to news events.
To Answer “beat question”
OddBot/Topbot will work well on most brokers with spread less than 4.
Obviously the lower the spread and fast execution makes for a better setup.

I test traded OddBot andTopBot for 14 days on a LiteForex floating spread account. The result was however negative (GBP/USD was break even). Looking at the performance posted here, it should have been positive.
Is someone using a real account (where general pubic can have an account) like e.g. HotForex and had overall a positive outcome, comparable to the ones posted here?
Would appreciate your pointers.

Checking them out, I see very few with TopBot and and some more for OddBot, but besides your listing, only one with some month providable history on a real.
This one however confirms that GBP/USD was flat during my period of observation and very very bumpy before on the EUR/USD

As I could see so far, no real account broker (besides yours), which is mirroring the results here. Unfortunately, as it looks very nice, and I like trading style in itself. – Thanks for your good work in providing so many tests, inside and support to the community!! This site is really a Gem.-

Unfortunately, many people are paranoid and think posting their real account results is not a good idea so they keep them secret. Also, many people are just too lazy to do post their results and see no personal benefit in it, so the end result is that for any given EA it’s usually rather hard to find live forward tests. Demos are typically plenty, but live accounts are somewhat scarce.

Ive been running a test on Oddbot and it has not taken a trade this week. I do have the news filter on. I noticed their results havent taken a trade since 4/16 and yours hasnt taken a trade since 4/20. Is this normal? Im not going to get much data in their 2 week test window.

Appreciate your purchase through my link but it looks like Morpheus has a problem because purchases don’t get registered. Yours is by no means the first that doesn’t show up. Anyway, Oddbot was working rather decent even without the news filter which by the way was added this year, so I believe you are right with the medium news; it’s probably safe on high.

Hi Birt, why is the peformance in your forward test so much different to that in the official account? You said earlier you had kept the paramaters at their defaults so it would not be that I guess? It looks your ea is actually not entering certain unprofitable trades at all as compared to the official account? Your thoughts will be greatly appreciated.

I have absolutely no clue. Like I said, my settings are the default. Must be broker differences but now that I look at it, yeah, it does seem rather weird, my account only experienced the loss on June 8 while the official account ran into a string of losses around that date. You could contact MorpheusFX and ask them to analyze what could have resulted in such differences…
I just checked and my account is running with the news filter enabled and GMT is correctly configured; I don’t know, perhaps their news filter is not enabled or the GMT is incorrectly configured on the MorpheusFX account? If you have the time for it, you can check the high impact news times versus the trades taken in the MorpheusFX account – it should not trade 30 mins before and after news that affect the currencies involved.

I have the same result as official account too. I set everything into default. But mine even worst, the EA carried the trade from last Friday til this Monday, there was a huge spike in EU and it triggered my stop loss. Official and Birt did cut loss around -27pips on last Friday.
On Monday, official and i triggered another stop lost again, cause the candles went smooth down trend, it didn’t retrace. Birt’s account didn’t enter this trade. I suspect it’s because the difference price feeds among brokers. -

Personally, I wouldn’t run both EAs in the same portfolio.
It’s easy to compare them yourself: head to myfxbook, take my live WSFR account (or any other live WSFR account) and enable custom analysis with the starting date of the Oddbot account that you want to compare with and with only the EURUSD and GBPUSD symbols. I haven’t checked it myself but I believe Oddbot to be ahead of WSFR.

Kudos to Birt for exposing this guy.
I parted with £200 because I believed this EA was the real deal.
The guy didn’t offer refunds and I should have heard the alarms. Unfortunately I didn’t and thought it was a sign of his confidence in his product, but was sorely disappointed.
Gives Forex a bad name.

Birt, my thinkforex account is keeping on loosing yesterday also. Total are 3 trades (two win and one lose but lost 20.80$ butn were 6.85$ and 0.32$). I asked vendor the link of result with thinkforex but replied no such account. I don’t understand why he said thinkforex is his recommanded broker.
I really have no idea now. Birt, If don’t mind, pls give me a link of Roboforex and FXCC in myfxbook.com so i could refer as well as could shift my oddbot to the said account coz unfortunately it’s no refund..:((
