Forward test change history

  • 15.05.2012 – Genial Invest forward test resumed using default settings.
  • 12.05.2012 – Quantum FX Bot forward test discontinued because it no longer seems to be commercialized and it was also displaying a poor performance.
  • 12.05.2012 – Forex Harvester v2 forward test stopped – it seems to no longer be available since late February 2012 and on top of that it was showing a clearly descending balance curve.
  • 12.05.2012 – Forex Morning Trade forward test stopped due to poor performance and drawdown in excess of 50%.
  • 12.05.2012 – Forex Winning Solution forward test was stopped due to lack of trading. The signal service has seen no trade for over 4 months and I decided to stop it even though the vendor assured me a while ago that it is going to be resumed.
  • 12.05.2012 – Fx Smart Invest forward test discontinued since the vendor seems to have disappeared into the mist.
  • 12.05.2012 – Orange Forex Robot forward test stopped due to poor performance.
  • 12.05.2012 – Both Kangaroo accounts were updated to v7.3.
  • 12.05.2012 – As I was updating Kangaroo, I noticed that both my Kangaroo accounts suffered a connection failure and have been inactive since 07.05.2012.
  • 08.05.2012 – Added Euronis forward test using v7000 and the profile provided by the vendor.
  • 04.05.2012 – My VPS had an unscheduled reboot. All the EAs in forward testing were restarted.
  • 03.05.2012 – The NeoTradEx forward test was updated with the new neural network files sent by the vendor. No settings were changed and it still runs on EURUSD only.
  • 02.05.2012 – Updated both KangarooEA accounts to v7.2. Once more the new defaults were used, including the risk setting of 5.0. Only the AUDUSD currency pair is traded on both accounts.
  • 01.05.2012 – Updated FAP Turbo to v5.6 using the defaults from this version except stealth mode which was set to false.
  • 30.04.2012 – Updated PhiBase Pro to v2.2 build date 2012.04.22 without changing any of the settings.
  • 30.04.2012 – NeoTradEx appears to have some problems on my VPS. All pairs except EURUSD have been temporarily disabled in an effort to help the vendor debug the issue. The open trades on EURJPY, USDCHF and USDJPY were manually closed.
  • 30.04.2012 – Updated both KangarooEA accounts to v7.1 using the default settings from the new version (including the risk setting of 5.0). Both accounts are still running only the AUDUSD EA.
  • 30.04.2012 – Updated NeoTradEx to v1.5 using the presets and neural network training files from the new version. In addition to EURUSD and USDCHF, the following currency pairs were added: EURJPY, EURGBP and USDJPY. Fixed is off, Capital is 0.05 for all pairs.
  • 19.04.2012 – Forex Growth Bot is now at v1.8 in my forward test. It is using all the default settings (including the lot size) except the magic number which is set to the same as the one from an older version just for the sake of continuity.
  • 19.04.2012 – The PhiBase Pro forward test is now running v2.2. Settings used: all default (Max_Allocation_Per_Trade 10.0, Geometrical_MM true).
  • 19.04.2012 – Morpheus Topbot updated to v1.1. Settings used are as before (AutoMM 5.0).
  • 18.04.2012 – Updated Forex Real Profit EAPrivateFX to v6.0.4 using the default settings from the new version.
  • 17.04.2012 – Updated NeoTradEx training files. Also updated and loaded the preset files, the only settings changed being Fixed – false and Capital – 0.05.
  • 16.04.2012 – When updating Forex Flow on 15.04.2012, I failed to enter the reference number. The result was that the EA was unauthorized for about 12 hours and started a trade on each pair as soon as I entered the correct reference number.
  • 15.04.2012 – The NeoTradEx live forward test has had its risk settings adjusted once more for both EURUSD and USDCHF, hopefully for the last time: it is now using Fixed off and Capital 0.05.
  • 15.04.2012 – Forex Flow updated to v4.0. The settings used were the defaults provided in the v4 set files with the exception of Use_Balance_Factor true, Balance_Factor 300, StartLotSize 0.02.
  • 15.04.2012 – Smart FX Master Scalper and Smart FX Breakout Hunter were running with the wrong settings for a week (since 07.04.2012) because I forgot to load the proper set files. Master Scalper has been updated to 10.0.2. Both Master Scalper and Breakout Hunter have had the correct setting files loaded today. Breakout Hunter remains at v10.0.1 for now due to a small update issue that I’ve experienced and the fact that there are no major changes.
  • 12.04.2012 – Added USDCHF to the NeoTradEx live forward test and enabled Fixed mode with a fixed lot size of 0.1 for both pairs.
  • 10.04.2012 – After waiting for over 3 weeks to “catch” Black Belt EA with no trades open, I gave up and updated it to v3.0 while it had 2 open positions. It appears to have trades open almost continuously. The settings used are just as before (initial_balance 300, MM true, balance_percent 0.8).
  • 09.04.2012 – Added NeoTradEx live forward test. Pairs: EURSD only. Settings: defaults, Fixed off, Capital 0.1.
  • 09.04.2012 – An unscheduled reboot in the afternoon resulted in a downtime of all forward tests of about 75-90 minutes. As far as I could tell, nothing was affected.
  • 09.04.2012 – Added Forex Real Profit EA v6.03 forward test running on PrivateFX using default settings (including risk 2.0 for each pair). Pairs: AUDUSD, EURAUD, EURCAD, EURCHF, EURGBP, EURUSD, GBPCHF, GBPUSD, USDCAD, USDCHF, USDJPY.
  • 08.04.2012 – Forex Shocker updated to 3.1. Settings: default; MoneyManagement – true, SuperAggressive – true, MaxSpread – 4.0, UseDST_GMTminus1 – true.
  • 08.04.2012 – PhiBase Pro updated to v2.01 using the default settings from the new version, including Max Allocation Per Trade set to 10.
  • 07.04.2012 – Updated Smart FX Master Scalper and Smart FX Breakout Hunter to v10.0.1. Settings used: the defaults of the new version.
  • 04.04.2012 – Changed the UseDST setting to true for Forex Shocker. Turns out it should’ve been set to true when the US DST shift occurred, so the EA was running in the wrong interval for about 3 weeks. This explains the losses it encountered during this period.
  • 28.03.2012 – Removed USDCAD from Fast Forex Millions. An USDCAD position that was open at the time was manually closed.
  • 25.03.2012 – Updated Forex Growth Bot to 1.75.
  • 25.03.2012 – The Topbot GMT offset was updated to 3 (DST change on 24.03).
  • 25.03.2012 – Updated Oddbot to v1.81 using the new default settings. The notable change is that the NewsFilter parameter is now on by default. AutoMM remains set to 5.0. The GMT offset was adjusted to 3 due to DST coming into effect.
  • 24.03.2012 – Updated Forex Flow to v3.8. Its settings remain unchanged.
  • 21.03.2012 – Had another unscheduled VPS reboot last night so all the EAs were down for almost 7 hours, between 3AM GMT and 9:30AM GMT. Unfortunately, AlwaysUp can’t handle the amount of EAs I am running so I didn’t bother reinstalling it when reinstalling the VPS a few weeks ago and none of the EAs were restarted when the VPS rebooted. This time, I dragged all the shortcuts in Startup; that might work if the server reboots again.
  • 17.03.2012 – Due to a fault of mine (restored the installed backup instead of reinstalling the copier), the FX Smart Invest forward test hasn’t been running since the incident on 18.02 (see below). It was just lacking the VC 2008 runtime. It has now been fixed so it should resume trading. Unfortunately, it was paused for a whole month which was quite profitable for it.
  • 13.03.2012 – Switched SmartExit on for Forex Growth Bot.
  • 13.03.2012 – Added Forex Envy live forward test. Settings: as provided by the vendor in the .set files. Long cycle only.
  • 11.03.2012 – Updated Forex Real Profit EA to v5.27. Its settings remain as before (defaults, risk 5).
  • 07.03.2012 – As it turns out, the VPS reboot on the previous day broke the authentication for Fast Forex Millions which spent more than 24 hours unauthenticated. It’s fixed now.
  • 06.03.2012 – Had an unscheduled VPS reboot in the morning. All the EAs were restarted and as far as I can tell, none were affected.
  • 04.03.2012 – Updated PhiBase Pro to v1.23 using identical settings as for v1.1.
  • 25.02.2012 – MyFXDuplicate forward test stopped due to poor performance and excessive drawdown.
  • 18.02.2012 – Installed a Windows Update that was supposed to fix a terminal services issue that I’ve been experiencing. The update left my VPS with no remote access so I had to spend the whole weekend reinstalling it and the whole flock of MT4 terminals that it’s running. No EAs seem to have been affected by this reinstall as FGB had no open trades at the time and to the best of my knowledge it’s the only one that reacts weird on restarts.
  • 18.02.2012 – Updated Oddbot to v1.8. Settings remain as before (risk 5).
  • 15.02.2012 – Added PhiBase Pro live forward test running on EURUSD only. Settings: default; Variable_LotSize 5.0.
  • 13.02.2012 – Added Forex Megadroid live forward test using v1.38. Settings: default; Stealth false, RiskLevel 0.05, RecoveryMode false.
  • 13.02.2012 – Added FAP Turbo live forward test using v5.4. Settings: default; Scalper_LotsRiskReductor 5.0, Scalper_StealthMode false.
  • 12.02.2012 – The VPS was restarted (changed the backup system) so all terminals were also restarted. Most likely, the only impact this will have is on Forex Growth Bot that had 5 open trades.
  • 12.02.2012 – Hyper EA updated to v2.2.2 using the same settings as before.
  • 12.02.2012 – Magic Champ II updated to v1.6.04. Settings configured as for the previous version.
  • 24.01.2012 – Forex Flow updated to v3.71. No settings were changed.
  • 24.01.2012 – Two other EAs were affected by the same issue as Forex Combo System: the Oddbot GBPUSD chart and the QuantumFX EURUSD chart (the latter may have suffered this fate earlier as I see it hasn’t had trades since 04.01). They were both reactivated.
  • 24.01.2012 – Forex Combo System EURUSD failed to appear on the chart when its terminal was restarted this weekend after my maintenance (which involved a reboot due to the Smart FX issues I mentioned). As a consequence, the forward test was inactive between 23.01-24.01.2012.
  • 24.01.2012 – Forex Flow changed the name of the key field due to the Plimus issues. As a consequence, when updating it and using the same settings as before, the key got lost and Forex Flow was unauthenticated (thus not trading) for 2 days.
  • 22.01.2012 – Fast Forex Millions USDCHF removed. Risk settings updated to: EURUSD – 3, GBPUSD – 3, USDCAD – 2, AUDUSD – 2.
  • 22.01.2012 – Smart FX Master Scalper and Breakout Hunter forward tests resumed with the vendor’s extremely prompt assistance.
  • 22.01.2012 – Smart FX Master Scalper and Breakout Hunter updated to 9.0.1, however there seems to be a problem related to their protection and neither of them is running any more, so both forward tests are paused for now. The vendor was contacted.
  • 22.01.2012 – Forex Flow updated to 3.7. Same settings used as before.
  • 20.01.2012 – Kangaroo updated to v6.4. Settings: default (including Risk = 5). Still running only AUDUSD.
  • 20.01.2012 – EuroRise (aka EurClimber) updated to v5.1. Settings: default, RiskPercentPerTrade: 3.
  • 20.01.2012 – Added Fast Forex Millions forward test. Default settings, risk set as follows: EURUSD – 3, USDCHF – 1.5, GBPUSD – 3, USDCAD – 2, AUDUSD – 3.
  • 20.01.2012 – Forex Megabot no longer authenticates. The domain where authentication was being performed is now suspended. The last trade taken was on 13.01.2012. As of now, this forward test is no longer running.
  • 20.01.2012 – Forex Real Profit EA updated with a new version (its number is still 5.26, though). The settings remain unchanged. The new auto GMT feature is enabled on all pairs.
  • 18.01.2012 – Added PrivateFX Kangaroo forward test, version v6.4, running on AUDUSD only (no EURUSD). Settings: default (including Risk = 5).
  • 12.01.2012 – Interbank Trade Advisor added with default settings and fixed lot 0.04.
  • 11.01.2012 – Forex Gold Trader 4.0 updated with the 2012 update. No parameters were changed.
  • 09.01.2012 – Forex Harvester crashed at the beginning of its trading session yesterday, just before taking a trade. Its terminal was restarted.
  • 09.01.2012 – Hyper EA forward test resumed.
  • 25.12.2011 – Forex Combo System upgraded to 3.0 on all three accounts using the default settings. Strategy 3 and 4 (Reversal and EuroRange) are disabled in the GBPUSD EA (in the two accounts that trade it, that is).
  • 25.12.2011 – Smart FX Breakout Hunter and Master Scalper were restarted after an accidental 1 week break.
  • 21.12.2011 – Forex Gale settings updated to use 0.35 TakeProfit and 0.35 TrailingStopLoss. The MinimalEquity parameter was set to 250.
  • 20.12.2011 – Added Magic Champ II live forward test. Settings: mostly default; settings changed or worth mentioning: MoneyManagement_Variant 1, risk_Long_Percent 3, risk_Short_Percent 3, use_Adaptive_MM false, OrderOpen_withSLTP false, Auto_Trade_Open true, use_Local_Time false, use_Server_Time true, startTime_Hour 2.
  • 19.12.2011 – Hyper EA is stopped until 09.01, as per the vendor’s email advisory.
  • 18.12.2011 – Updated Windfall to v3.0. A new pair was added: AUDUSD. All 3 pairs (EURUSD, GBPUSD, AUDUSD) are using default settings. AutoCashManagement is enabled with a PercentageRiskPerTrade set to 5.0. GMT offset is configured to 3.
  • 18.12.2011 – Updated Forex Flow to v3.6. None of the settings were changed.
  • 17.12.2011 – I installed some stuff on the VPS and had to reboot it. When the MT4 clients were automatically restarted, Smart FX Master Scalper and Breakout Hunter were somehow not on the chart anymore, it’s still unclear why. Unfortunately, with the holidays and stuff, this went completely unnoticed for a week so both the EAs mentioned were not active during the 19.12-23.12 trading week.
  • 16.12.2011 – Two Percent Daily appears to have a bug which makes it lose control of a trade if OrderModify() fails. My account had a 4 days old short trade with no SL or TP, which I had to close manually with a rather large profit (compared to what the EA normally makes). I’ve notified the vendor about the issue.
  • 13.12.2011 – Added Hyper EA live forward test. Current version: 2.2. Settings: default; UseMM – enabled, LotsFor1000 – 1.0, Lotsdigits – 2, TimeCorrection – 0.
  • 12.12.2011 – FX Smart Invest: RiskScaling increased to 10.0 after 1 week of testing when it became obvious that the EA doesn’t know how to handle a different contract size.
  • 12.12.2011 – Edited Forex Flow to fix issue preventing operation on low balance accounts with 10k contract size. This issue was preventing EA operation. The vendor has been notified.
  • 11.12.2011 – Updated Forex Flow to v3.5. The parameters remain unchanged. For both pairs, the two new parameters have been configured as follows: TradeFriday false, MaxSpread 4.1.
  • 06.12.2011 – Added FX Smart Invest live forward test. Settings: default.
  • 05.12.2011 – Updated Forex EAs Trend Scalper to v4.1. It is using the same settings as before.
  • 01.12.2011 – MyFXDuplicate is switching their infrastructure so I had to manually close a trade. The vendor facilitated moving the forward test to metatrader247. It is still using a fixed lot of 0.15.
  • 30.11.2011 – As per the vendor’s email, the settings for USDJPY for Forex Real Profit EA were changed to “Long only” (Common tab if you’re wondering where that is).
  • 29.11.2011 – Added a forgotten Forex Combo System forward test (started on 22.08.2011) on both EURUSD and GBPUSD to the EA Top.
  • 27.11.2011 – Added MyFXDuplicate live forward test. Settings used: default, FixedLots 0.15.
  • 27.11.2011 – Added Forex EAs Trend Scalper live forward test. Settings: default, Percent Risk 0.5.
  • 23.11.2011 – After some more backtesting, I decided to change the Forex Flow AUDCAD StartLotSize to 0.02.
  • 22.11.2011 – As a conclusion of some backtesting, changed the Forex Flow settings to: AUDCAD – StartLotSize 0.03, Use_Balance_Factor true, Balance_Factor 300; AUDNZD – StartLotSize 0.02, Use_Balance_Factor true, Balance_Factor 300.
  • 22.11.2011 – Added Forex Flow live forward test. Settings: default (StartLotSize 0.01, MaxLevel 6).
  • 20.11.2011 – Ever since the update on 13.11.2011, SmartFX Breakout Hunter and Master Scalper were running with the minimum lot size because I failed to load the proper set files. This issue has been corrected.
  • 18.11.2011 – Forex Megabot was removed from the EA Top because buying it no longer works. However, its forward test will continue for historical reasons, as an accompaniment to the article.
  • 13.11.2011 – Added Orange Forex Robot forward test. Settings: default, MaximumRisk 1.0.
  • 13.11.2011 – Updated Forex Cleaner to the version released on 12.11.2011. Its settings remain unchanged.
  • 13.11.2011 – Updated Forex Gold Trader to the version released on 11.11.2011. The settings remain as before.
  • 13.11.2011 – Updated SmartFX Master Scalper to v7.1.8. Settings used: default.
  • 13.11.2011 – Updated SmartFX Breakout Hunter to v7.1.8. Settings used: default.
  • 11.11.2011 – Restarted the MT4 terminal of Forex Combo System. It appears it does not automatically update the GMT offset when DST changes, so basically it was still running with GMT+3 even though it should’ve been GMT+2.
  • 11.11.2011 – Changed the settings for Two Percent Daily. TakeProfit is now 5 (was 1000), MinLot is now 999.0 (was 0.01).
  • 09.11.2011 – Updated Forex Real Profit EA to 5.26, using the settings recommended by the author in the email that (I imagine) was sent to all customers with the upgrade. Pretty much all defaults, except the risk which was kept at 5. Two new pairs were added: GBPUSD and USDJPY.
  • 03.11.2011 – Added Forex Winning Solution forward test. Settings: default, MMPercentage 5.
  • 01.11.2011 – Added Forex Trend Hunter forward test. Settings: default, AutoRisk 3.0.
  • 31.10.2011 – Added OddBot forward test. Settings: default, AutoMM 5.0
  • 31.10.2011 – Added Two Percent Daily forward test. Settings: default.
  • 31.10.2011 – AUDUSD added to the Wall Street Forex Robot forward test, using the default settings and AutoMM set to 2.
  • 31.10.2011 – Updated Windfall to v2. GBPUSD settings unchanged, EURUSD settings changed per the recommendation on the EA website as follows: TakeProfit = 25, Stops_to_breakeven = true, Stops2BE_Trigger = 11, Stops2BE_Profit = 6.
  • 31.10.2011 – Added Forex Gold Trader v4 forward test using the default settings.
  • 31.10.2011 – Added Smart FX Breakout Hunter forward test using the default settings.
  • 31.10.2011 – Added Smart FX Master Scalper forward test using the default settings.
  • 24.10.2011 – Added Forex Cleaner forward test using the default settings with Stealth set to false and Risk set to 3.
  • 24.10.2011 – Added Million Dollar Pips GBPUSD and Million Dollar Pips USDJPY forward tests. For both, the settings are configured to their default values with the following exceptions: Risk 1.5, FIFO false, Stop Orders false, Hard Stop Trailing false and AutoAdjust_ECN false.
  • 21.10.2011 – AutoApply_ECN was set to false for Million Dollar Pips, which in turn (finally) set Use_Stop_Orders and Hard_Stop_Trailing to false.
  • 19.10.2011 – Per the Forex Real Profit EA vendor’s request, updated the GBPCHF risk to 4 and changed the GBPCHF volatility filter setting to true.
  • 19.10.2011 – As suggested in the author’s email sent to all users, I removed the USDCHF pair from the Wall Street Forex Robot forward test and added NZDUSD. This pair is using the default settings with AutoMM set to 3. Even though now there is an alternative EURUSD configuration available, my forward test is still going to be using the default EURUSD configuration.
  • 18.10.2011 – The Forex Real Profit EA developer asked me to increase the risk to 5 to allow the EA to compete with other EAs in the EA Top on the same level. Since this has the drawback of larger drawdowns in direct proportional to the potential increase in gains, I decided it’s a reasonable request and I proceeded to apply it. No other settings were changed.
  • 18.10.2011 – Upgraded my SWVPS plan to the $69 one that comes with 5 GHz CPU, 300 GB HDD, 12 GB RAM and 4 TB monthly traffic, which I intend to also use for backtesting. Since there’s plenty of RAM and CPU, I moved all forward tests that I was running on my AWS instance to the upgraded VPS. This resulted in a downtime of at most 1 minute for the following EAs: Steady Growth, QuantumFX Bot, Million Dollar Pips, Silver EA, Steady Winner, Iris FX, Genial Invest, Euro Smarter, FX Speed Trader, ParaSwing, Forex Gale, Forex Shocker.
  • 30.09.2011 – Added Forex Shocker live forward test. Pairs: EURUSD only. Settings: default, MaxSpread 4.0, MoneyManagement enabled, SuperAggressive enabled (due to what seems to be a lot calculation problem with micro lots).
  • 29.09.2011 – Added Forex Gale live forward test. Settings: all defaults except TakeProfit 0.65, TrailingStopLoss 0.65, LotsSize 0.02 (medium risk, as recommended by the vendor).
  • 29.09.2011 – Added ParaSwing live forward test. Settings: default, percentage free margin set to 5.0.
  • 29.09.2011 – Forex Real Profit EA terminal restarted. Volatility filter disabled for all pairs as suggested in the newsletter I received the day before.
  • 28.09.2011 – Forex Real Profit EA stopped for today as per the vendor’s advisory.
  • 27.09.2011 – Updated FX Speed Trader to the version released on 27.09 (each ex4 file has a “1″ suffix). The settings from the previous versions were preserved.
  • 26.09.2011 – The Forex Gold Trader forward test is no longer being updated since it hit a stop out when gold started going down. It appears they were able to save some of their accounts by countering the whole buy grid with a couple of large sell positions, but unfortunately that did not get applied on my account. Bottom line, it’s an awesome EA when Gold is trending up, but it’ll wipe out the account otherwise.
  • 17.09.2011 – Increased the risk for FX Speed Trader from 2.0 to 20.0 because it seems it’s not taking into account the lot size which is 10k, not the usual 100k.
  • 15.09.2011 – Wall Street Forex Robot opened a trade precisely before a spike that pushed the price above the intended TP level, so the subsequent order modification request that would’ve set the SL & TP failed. A kind soul pointed out the problem to me in the myfxbook comments and I closed the trade manually since it was above its TP anyway.
  • 12.09.2011 – Increased FX Speed Trader MaxSpread parameter to 5.0 for all pairs in a desperate attempt to persuade it to actually start trading.
  • 12.09.2011 – Million Dollar Pips updated to 1.20. Risk was set to 1.5 (default is now 2.0) and FIFO was set to false. No other settings were touched.
  • 12.09.2011 – Started new Silver EA forward test, ensuring the bug will not show up again. The parameters are the same as before.
  • 12.09.2011 – Retired Silver EA forward test that had been broken for about 2 weeks and traded around the clock instead of restricting its positions to the Asian session.
  • 08.09.2011 – My SWVPS went down and unfortunately I didn’t notice for about 30 hours, from about 1AM GMT until 8AM the next day. The EAs that were most affected were Forex Combo System GBPUSD (which had an open trade and the market went against it… I figure it might’ve had a chance to close it early if it were up & running) and Forex Growth Bot (which had an open trade that was automatically closed at a small loss when it was restarted, but its pip quantum was small). Other EAs that were down were Forex Real Profit EA, EURClimber, Forex Combo System EURUSD, Kangaroo, Forex Morning Trade, Wall Street Forex Robot, Windfall, Megabot and PipRider.
  • 05.09.2011 – Updated Fx Speed Trader to the version released on 31.08.2011. Its settings were left unchanged.
  • 24.08.2011 – Added a $200 deposit to the Forex Gold Trader account to avoid an imminent margin call and changed dynamicLots to 0.5.
  • 24.08.2011 – My SWVPS account was experiencing some problems: everything was working fine, but it was no longer able to connect via HTTP at all, very likely something that I should be thankful to Microsoft for. I had to reboot it. The downtime was some 5 minutes and the EAs affected were: Real Profit EA, EUR Climber, Forex Combo System (both EURUSD and GBPUSD), Harvester v2, Forex Morning Trade, Wallstreet Forex Robot, Windfall, Megabot, PipRider and Forex Growth Bot. The two EAs that were affected most were FGB which closed its trade after the restart and PipRider which was stopped for about 8 hours.
  • 22.08.2011 – Added Forex Combo System EURUSD + GBPUSD forward test. Settings: default, except TradeMM = 2 for all systems for both pairs and the GMT setting of GBPUSD which was manually set to 3 (PrivateFX having a GMT of 2 with DST).
  • 22.08.2011 – Added FX Speed Trader forward test. Settings: default, Risk = 2, TradeMicroLots = true.
  • 12.08.2011 – Received a new version of Fx Steady Growth (no version number) and updated the forward test. A trade was in progress at the time.
  • 11.08.2011 – Euro Smarter was not trading at all so I investigated a bit. Turns out it attempts to send the SL & TP with each order if StealthMode is disabled, rendering it incompatible with STP brokers. I turned StealthMode on.
  • 09.08.2011 – Forex Steady Growth and Million Dollar Pips were accidentally stopped for about 12 hours.
  • 08.08.2011 – Added Euro Smarter forward test. Settings: default, EnableMM = true, StealthMode = false, Risk = 5
  • 08.08.2011 – Replaced Forex Steady Growth regular version with the ECN version after receiving an error 130.
  • 08.08.2011 – Added Genial Invest forward test, default settings (RiskLevel = 1).
  • 08.08.2011 – Added Forex Gold Trader forward test, default settings (dynamicLot 5.0 used due to the micro lot size).
  • 08.08.2011 – Harvester v2 restarted.
  • 07.08.2011 – Added Million Dollar Pips forward test, default settings (Risk 1.5, NumOrders_Level 0, Additional_Channels 1, Max_Simultaneous_Orders 8).
  • 07.08.2011 – Added Iris FX forward test, default settings, Strategy 1 lot_percent = 3.0, Strategy 2 lot_percent = 1.5, Strategy 3 lot_percent = 3.0.
  • 07.08.2011 – Added Steady Winner forward test, default settings, PercentToRisk = 5.0.
  • 07.08.2011 – Added Silver EA forward test, default settings (Risk = 100).
  • 07.08.2011 – Added Quantum FX Bot forward test, default settings (RiskPercent = 3.0).
  • 07.08.2011 – Added Fx Steady Growth forward test, default settings, money management enabled using LotsPercent = 2.0.
  • 07.08.2011 – As per the vendor’s suggestion, Harvester v2 was stopped for today’s session.
  • 04.08.2011 – Kangaroo EURUSD stopped as per the suggestion posted by TulipFX on their forum. If I would’ve read the information when it was posted, the EURUSD SL today would’ve been avoided.
  • 30.07.2011 – Forex Combo System updated to 2.44 on both EURUSD and GBPUSD. Using the same settings as before: all defaults with 2% money management for each system and manual fixed GMT offset 3 for GBPUSD.
  • 30.07.2011 – Forex Real Profit trading restarted.
  • 29.07.2011 – Forex Real Profit trading stopped according to the advisory sent by the developer.
  • 11.07.2011 – Updated Forex Real Profit to 5.25. The settings are the same from 5.24. As per the developer’s recommendation, the new AvoidNews setting is configured to false.
  • 26.06.2011 – Updated Forex Growth Bot to 1.6. Its settings remain unchanged.
  • 23.06.2011 – Added PipRider forward test using default parameters with MaximumSpread set to 3.5 since the LiteForex fixed spread is 3.0.
  • 21.06.2011 – Just yesterday I was praising my SWVPS account saying that it had no crashes and it was up for 4 months only to find that it decided to reboot for the first time today. All the forward tests were down between roughly 20:00 and 22:30 GMT.
  • 03.06.2011 – Changed the Forex WindFall risk to 5.
  • 02.06.2011 – Added Forex WindFall with default settings and risk 3.
  • 30.05.2011 – Wallstreet Forex Robot was displaying “unsupported currency pair” messages so I restarted its terminal which took care of the issue.
  • 29.05.2011 – Wallstreet Forex Robot updated to 3.9. The risk and the other settings remain the same. The new MaxAccountTrades parameter is set to 10 to allow the EA to have as many trades as its heart desires, while the Friday exit setting is disabled.
  • 24.05.2011 – Forex Growth Bot updated to 1.5. No settings were changed and no trades were open at the time of the upgrade.
  • 21.05.2011 – Updated Kangaroo to 6.2. No settings were changed.
  • 21.05.2011 – Found two copies of the Forex Morning Trade MT4 running somehow. Closed one, but not before it took a duplicate trade on 20.05.
  • 15.05.2011 – For some reason, the Forex Growth Bot terminal silently closed during the weekend so I used the opportunity to upgrade to v1.4 without changing any of the settings. The trade that was still open from last week was closed as soon as the market opened.
  • 09.05.2011 – Forex Real Profit EA updated to 5.23. The settings were changed to use the EA defaults (including the operating hours which are now 21-22 GMT) with the exception of risk which is still configured to 3. This settings change (the operational hours) was applied due to the findings of the readers and after a mail exchange with the authors since it appears that the changes in the EA since my backtests have invalidated my findings. The EA will stay configured like this until I find the time to redo some of the backtests.
  • 09.05.2011 – Restarted Wallstreet Forex Robot to benefit from the updated USDCHF settings.
  • 29.04.2011 – Forex Morning Trade updated to trade at 6:15 instead of 6:30 and the SL setting changed as per the author’s recommendation. Unfortunately, even though the author recommended these changes on 18.04, I’ve only got wind of them now and in the meantime my live account suffered some losses. I trust it will recover eventually.
  • 29.04.2011 – I’ve been out of town for a while so it was a bit harder to access everything. In the meantime, Forex Real Profit issued a no-trade alert for 25.04, which I chose to ignore due to commodity. As it turns out, it resulted in some losses (albeit minor), but this should serve as an indication as to what happens when one ignores the developer recommendations. This entry is just a random rant, nothing was changed in the Forex Real Profit forward test.
  • 18.04.2011 – Looks like the FXOpen server was under maintenance at the time I upgraded Harvester v2 which resulted in an “invalid account” message on my end. Since the terminal doesn’t attempt to reconnect after this error, Harvester missed this weekend’s session.
  • 17.04.2011 – Harvester v2 upgraded to build 28, using the same settings as before (defaults with risk 3).
  • 11.04.2011 – Wall Street Forex Robot updated to v3.8 using the same configuration as before. This version is supposed to fix the problem I encountered earlier today, which apparently occurs only on the Sunday session open and only on brokers with weird pair names (e.g. EURUSDX in the case of my Liteforex floating spread account).
  • 11.04.2011 – EURClimber updated to v5.0. EURCHF is no longer supported starting with this version so the remaining pairs are EURGBP and USDCHF. The settings are configured as they were before (defaults, AllowSimultTrades true, RiskPercentPerTrade 3).
  • 11.04.2011 – Forex Growth Bot updated to Basic v1.3. Same configuration as before.
  • 11.04.2011 – Wall Street Forex Robot was complaining about invalid pairs, probably due to the “x” suffix. A simple restart of the MT4 platform fixed the issue, so I guess it was just a temporary problem with the server.
  • 09.04.2011 – Wall Street Forex Robot updated to v3.7 using the same settings and pairs as before.
  • 05.04.2011 – EURClimber updated to 4.2, settings unchanged.
  • 05.04.2011 – Forex Real Profit EA updated to 5.21. All pairs are using default settings with the exceptions of start hour 22, end hour 23 and risk 3.
  • 03.04.2011 – Harvester v2 updated with build 27. Using defaults with risk 3. Added JPY pairs back and removed USDCAD & AUDUSD; the current pairs it’s running on are: EURUSD, GBPUSD, USDCHF, USDJPY, EURJPY – exactly as the manual recommends.
  • 03.04.2011 – Kangaroo is now at v6.0. Still using the default settings.
  • 30.03.2011 – Updated Forex Growth Bot to Basic v1.2. All the parameters are configured the same way they were prior to the upgrade; SmartExit is set to its default value, which is false.
  • 29.03.2011 – Updated EURClimber to the v4.1. The settings remain the same. The new parameters are set to their default values.
  • 29.03.2011 – Added Wall Street Forex Robot live forward test. Current version is 3.6, it’s running on EURUSD, GBPUSD, USDCHF and USDJPY with the default settings and AutoMM 3.
  • 29.03.2011 – Forex Real Profit resumed.
  • 28.03.2011 – Forex Real Profit disabled today as per the vendor’s advisory.
  • 28.03.2011 – EURClimber updated to v4.0. All the settings were initialized with their default values, except AllowSimultTrades which was set to true for all pairs. Speaking of which, a new currency pair was added, USDCHF.
  • 28.03.2011 – On 24.03.2011 I mistakenly added Forex Growth Bot to an H1 timeframe instead of M15 which probably explains its lack of trades. Since it displayed an “authorized” message on the chart, I didn’t notice the problem until today, at which time I switched it to M15.
  • 28.03.2011 – Forex Harvester 2.0 was crashed this morning. Restarted its terminal.
  • 27.03.2011 – Added Forex Morning Trade v4.3 forward test.
  • 25.03.2011 – I didn’t get an answer from Forex Megabot support but the license was reactivated so I resumed the forward test.
  • 24.03.2011 – Updated Harvester v2 to build 026. All settings were configured to their default values except the risk which is set to 3. As per the vendor’s recommendation, the JPY pairs are left out, but two additional pairs were added – AUDUSD and USDCAD – so the pairs it is currently running on are: EURUSD, GBPUSD, USDCHF, AUDUSD and USDCAD.
  • 24.03.2011 – Updated the Forex Growth Bot forward test with the beta version received today (DLL version 2.0.2.36). Naturally, the forward test was also resumed. As before, it’s using the default settings with a lot size of 0.1.
  • 24.03.2011 – My Forex Megabot review license has been deactivated, not sure if by mistake or on purpose. I emailed support about it but given the recent developments with the EA, I don’t expect it to be reactivated anytime soon. In conclusion, the Forex Megabot forward test is stopped for the time being.
  • 20.03.2011 – Harvester v2 updated to build 025. The yen pairs (EURJPY and USDJPY) were disabled as per the instructions in the weekly Harvester newsletter, so it’s only running on EURUSD, GBPUSD and USDCHF for the time being. All its parameters are configured to their default values except the risk which is set to 3.
  • 17.03.2011 – Updated Forex Real Profit EA to 5.18, using default settings except the hourly interval which was set to 22:00-22:59 and the risk which was set to 3 (the UsePairDefaults setting takes care of the rest now).
  • 14.03.2011 – Forex Growth Bot seems to have a bug that involves losing control of the trades. My forward test had 13 long trades today. Given the issues I had since I installed the latest version (see the 04.03.2011 and the 23.02.2011 entries), there’s obviously a problem with the EA and I decided to manually close its trades and pause its forward test until a new version is released.
  • 12.03.2011 – Upgraded the EURUSD version of Forex Combo System. Even though the version number was still 2.42, the sizes of the latest ex4 and DLL were different from those of what I was running so I figured it would be a good idea. It’s still using the default settings with the exception of the risk, set to 2 for each system.
  • 12.03.2011 – A separate live forward test account for the GBPUSD version has been added using the default settings with the exception of the risk (set to 2 for each system), AutoGMT_Offset disable and ManualGMT_Offset 3 (LiteForex).
  • 04.03.2011 – For about a week now, my live Forex Growth Bot forward test account kept trading opposite to all other FGB accounts. I ended up emailing the author yesterday and after his reply decided to restart the terminal manually, which resulted in the short trades being closed with a rather large drawdown on the account. The logs have been sent to the author for further investigation and I’ll post an update if I have any news as to what might have gone wrong.
  • 01.03.2011 – Kangaroo updated to v5.9. Also, Kangaroo is now once again running on the EURUSD pair on my account. The settings used were the default for both EURUSD and AUDUSD.
  • 23.02.2011 – Added Forex Real Profit EA using the 22-23 set files with risk 3. Pairs: EURUSD, USDCHF, USDCAD, EURCHF, GBPCHF, EURGBP and EURCAD.
  • 23.02.2011 – Forex Growth Bot was updated with the latest version (which seems to have been released yesterday). For some reason, I had to reboot the VPS to overwrite its DLL. It refused to to get overwritten even though its terminal was closed. As far as I can tell, none of the EAs were affected by the reboot. In particular, Forex Growth Bot had no trades at the time.
  • 21.02.2011 – Updated KangarooEA with the 5.11 hotfix that addresses the news download issue. None of the settings were changed and it’s still running on AUDUSD only.
  • 16.02.2011 – FXOpen changed the GMT offset back to +2 on 13.02 so Forex Combo System was reattached once more. Yet again, some trades may have been incorrectly taken due to this.
  • 14.02.2011 – Disabled Kangaroo EURUSD as suggested by Tulip FX. It will be reactivated when a new version is out.
  • 12.02.2011 – EURClimber is now updated to v2.6. No settings were changed.
  • 10.02.2011 – Reattached Forex Combo System to the chart because FXOpen changed the GMT offset to +8 on 06.02.2011 and the EA does not recalculate it until it’s restarted. Some trades may have been incorrectly taken due to this.
  • 02.02.2011 – Updated EURClimber to v2.5. Same settings used.
  • 02.02.2011 – Updated Kangaroo to v5.1. Same settings, same pairs.
  • 01.02.2011 – Updated Forex Growth Bot with new version, installer dated 02.01.2011. Closed existing trades for good measure. It’s now using the defaults from the latest version (differences: FIFO is false, ClosePreviousSessionOrders is 2).
  • 31.01.2011 – Updated Kangaroo to v5.0. It’s now also running on EURUSD. It uses all the default settings in v5.0 (risk is 5).
  • 28.01.2011 – Updated EURClimber to version 2.4, the configuration remains unchanged.
  • 28.01.2011 – Updated Forex Growth Bot with the new version, installer being dated 27.01.2011. It’s still using the defaults.
  • 27.01.2011 – Updated Forex Growth Bot with a new version that should automatically close the orders of a previous session in case of a restart. There’s no version number, but the installer file is dated 18.01.2011.
  • 26.01.2011 – While I was looking into the problem with my Forex Growth Bot account (no trades since I uploaded it to the VPS) I noticed that when I uploaded the client, I failed to upload the DLL which was in windows\system32 and since the EA had a smiley face, I didn’t worry too much about the experts log. This issue has been corrected as of today so it should restart trading now.
  • 20.01.2011 – Had to manually close 6 Forex Growth Bot trades. As it turns out, the EA loses track of its trades if it is restarted and this was a direct result of my crashes during the past week. Luckily, the trades were well into profit and I dare say the EA would’ve closed them at a nice profit itself, although it would have probably been slightly lower.
  • 16.01.2011 – I’ve moved the forward tests on a VM on my personal linux server a while ago, but since 2 weeks ago, it started to crash regularly and I have yet to find out why, so I moved back all the EAs to a VPS. This time, instead of ForexVPS I decided to use SWVPS. As far as I can tell, none of the forward tests was affected by any of the crashes.
  • 13.01.2011 – Added EURClimber live account. Both the EURCHF EA and the EURGBP EA are using the default settings.
  • 12.01.2011 – Added Forex Growth Bot live forward test using the default settings.
  • 12.01.2011 – I somehow managed to start two instances of the Megabot terminal during a weekend reboot, which resulted in a double winner position today. Naturally, I closed one when I noticed.
  • 10.01.2011 – Restarted Kangaroo terminal on account of the known IsConnected() MT4 bug. Some trades were missed: “13:20:05 KangarooEAv4.1 AUDUSD,M5: OrderSendReliable v1_1_4:error: IsConnected() == false”.
  • 16.12.2010 – Updated Kangaroo to v4.1 using the default set file that came with this version.
  • 16.12.2010 – All the forward tests were down for about 7 hours after 1AM GMT due to the Automatic Updates configuration on my VPS. Forex Combo System and Kangaroo had trades open at the time of the reboot (which is quite important for Kangaroo and as it turns out, it actually missed 2 winning trades because of it).
  • 09.12.2010 – Updated Forex Megabot to 1.1a. Same configuration as before.
  • 06.12.2010 – Updated KangarooEA with the latest version. Settings unchanged.
  • 02.12.2010 – Updated KangarooEA with the hotfix, this should also take care of the lot issue. Still using the same default settings.
  • 01.12.2010 – Added KangarooEA using the settings from kangarooea-default.set
  • 01.12.2010 – Updated Forex Combo System to 2.42; configured as before.
  • 16.11.2010 – Forex Megabot risk level was somehow set to 3 with the update. I adjusted it to the intended value of 1.
  • 11.11.2010 – Updated Forex Megabot to 1.1, using the defaults (EarlyExit enabled, HighFrequency enabled) with RiskLevel 1 and StealthMode off.
  • 05.11.2010 – Updated Forex Combo System to 2.3; configured just like 2.1.
  • 29.10.2010 – Updated Forex Combo System to 2.1; configured risk 2.0 for all systems, everything else is set to the default value.
  • 04.10.2010 – Updated Forex Megabot to 1.0c. No settings were changed.
  • 25.09.2010 – Updated Forex Combo System to 1.46 using the same settings.
  • 21.09.2010 – Added Forex Megabot with RiskLevel 1, StealthMode off and the other settings on default.
  • 19.09.2010 – Added Forex Combo System with default settings and money management 2 for each system.
